Take a step back in time in the Brookshire’s Country Store where products and fixtures commonly seen in a grocery store of the 1920’s are on display. The nearly life-sized replica of an old-fashioned grocery store is complete with wooden floors and antique display cases. The store is filled with a variety of goods commonly stocked during the 1920’s, including lard and shortening cans, coffees, tobaccos, soaps, baking powders, tonic, bath salts, rock candy, produce and cured meats from the era.
Furnishings in the Country Store include a wood-burning heater, wall clock, wooden counters and chairs with cowhide seats. The tools of the trade include an antique cash register, scales, coffee grinders, meat slicers and more. All are displayed and demonstrated to help visitors experience the grocery business of years past and to appreciate the modern conveniences offered in today’s stores.
