With lower oil and gas prices contributing to the decreased demand for post-consumer resin (which includes plastic bottles and jugs), BGC is refocusing our efforts on recycling plastic bags and stretch film. Recycling plastic grocery bags is a good solution to significant environmental concerns for marine life and other animals.
BGC customers currently bring back about 1/6 of the plastic bags that go through our stores, and we encourage our customers to continue recycling even more.
While BGC is discontinuing the recycling of bottles and jugs, we encourage consumers who want to recycle those items to use other community recycle programs that include bottles and jugs, as well as other recyclable materials.
Although we encourage recycling of plastic grocery bags, we also encourage the use of reusable grocery bags.
